Is my wisteria dead?

Hi all, we planted a wisteria at the front of our house in September last year. We are south-facing so it is in a really sunny spot. However, despite some growth it now appears to be dead. Can anyone confirm from the pic and if so, does anyone have any suggestions why?

    Up against the wall is often very dry. See if the roots are dry. You may need to give it a bucket of water at least once a week through the first year.

    Thank you. Will check. Hopefully if we water it enough it will recover?
