Espalier apple tree

    Hi Jayne,
    Dove from above is right. For espalier, you need trees that has fruiting spurs, not tip bearing.  
    Fan would work nicely for your project. if you make a cut in the trunk above a bud, it’ll start sending new growth branches. So make the cut at the point where you want to start the fan :) hope this helps. 

    I have a follow up question about the espalier, once I choose the lowest tier, does it get higher as the tree grows?

    Hi

    Here is a photo of my fan trained greengage tree. I have a feeling that I should be cutting, but I am very much new to this I’m not very confident as to what I should do. I would much appreciate your thoughts and comments. @Dovefromabove - I had a quick look at the suggested websites, but I’m still confused.
