Potato water

Hi there, I’ve read that left over boiled potato water is helpful for potted plants, but I also read that it can putrefy in containers so only use on in-ground plants. Can anyone clear up this contradiction?

It won't putrify in containers as long as the pot has good drainage holes. I wouldn't use a saucer either, under the pot. Any cool  water from the kitchen is probably ok as long it doesn't have salt (not from dishwasher). Good to use an eco soap for dishes if using dishwater to water.

    It's not something I'd do.
You're basically pouring starch into the pots which is not accessible or useful to the plants and will just rot, not smell very nice and probably poison the compost.
You could pour it onto plants outside so long as the water isn't salted, but again I don't see the point.
