Elder Good or Bad

Greetings all
Going through my tin of old seed packets looking for something to grow. I have No compost of any kind and very little soil to be found in our paved garden.
But I have come across a packet of Common Elder ( a wedding favour of several years ago ) should I plant these just because I can ?? I always thought Elder bushes to be more of a weed than a prized plant !! ( Yes I am aware of the old saying that a weed is only a plant in the wrong place )

So should I or should'nt I  ?????

No, unless you have many acres and plenty of wild spaces.
How can you lie there and think of England

Apparently you can cut a tomato in half and bung it in a pot of compost.

The elder TREE is fairly harmless and useful for its flowers (wine and cordial) and berries.  What I call GROUND elder is evidently edible but is a very invasive weed that can be a nuisance.  COMMON elder isn't a term I recognise.
