I know nettle for foliage, comfrey for flowers and fruit. So when my spring bulbs have flowered and I'm feeding the foliage to supply next year's flowers, which should I give them? Both? Nettle now, and comfrey when they start growing next spring?
Comfrey is an all round tea and will feed their flower formation for next year. Nettles are heavy in nitrogen which will just help their foliage grow healthy so save it for leafy plants and veggies.

I have made a purin of nettles - it's quite smelly now. Started in February when the nettles were at their best. Made some soup and dried some for tea with the tender tops. It's sort of a slimy mess now and seems to have some living creatures (maggots perhaps or mozzies) in there. So do I just spread it around my vege plants in say June/July - is it good for flowering shrubs and flowers too?
