Does anyone know what this is?

This weed (?) is in our new garden and has roots that go a long way, mainly horizontally. The first picture is a smaller newer shoot and second picture is the main area showing the roots I've uncovered so far. Help!  :)

  • It looks like Symphoricarpos/Snowberry they do tend to sucker from neighbouring gardens. I rather like them...but each to their own 😉

I'd say leave it alone at your peril.

  • Mine was just an unassuming shrub but, ignorant of it's nature, I cut it to the ground. Thank goodness it's in an isolated corner cos it's gone everywhere.

  • Thanks for the replies, only just logged back in here - lockdown altered plans a bit. I managed to get rid of the Symphoricarpos/Snowberry with a lot of digging!
