Runner beans

Hi, new to growing my own,  I’ve got runner beans in pots that are about 7 inches tall already, can I sow them outside this early if I surround the sticks with bubble rap to keep the frost off?

You don't say where you are geographically, Max.  That will be your guide.  I'm in W Cork where the weather is expected to be mild from now on, so mine were out several days ago but, if you're in Newcastle or somewhere, you may need to be a bit more cautious.  I'd suggest your bubble wrap idea would be a good idea but may not be necessary.

    Sure.  Shouldn't be a problem.

I've looked at this @pansyface and so few places are listed it's hard to work out. My area has four colours three of which are on the list, but the one covering our area is neither one colour or the other, so its anytime from now to May, not really helpful.

They want more info on me than I care to give to an unknown site @Dovefromabove

That’s no good for here, we had half inch of ice on the birds water the other morning, and frost almost every morning,  the hydrangeas are blackened.
I plant my runner beans out on the 1st of June, they would go white if I put them out before.

In Lincolnshire I usually put the seed in the end of the second week in May @Lyn , so they are up by May bank hols. Last year was a poor germination year, hope for better this year.

Seems we're lucky here.  No more than eight frosts, and then only light ones, all 'winter'.  Mind you, the wind levels are such that certain crops are outsville.

I'm in the same boat I set my beans too early and now they are ready to go out. It has been so warm, I have had them in the conservatory with the windows open and they are growing like there is no tomorrow. I thought of scrapping them and starting again but the weather is forecast warm for the next week or so - only down to 7 / 6 degrees at night (in Chesterfield, Derbyshire) should I risk it?
