Hi, I'm a beginner trying to get some veg growing and looking to set some potatoes making use of what I have in the garden. Is this comfrey? Loads of it in the garden and looking to line the trenches with. Some before I set the potatoes. Thanks 🙂
It's related to comfrey and borage and can be used pretty much in the same way.
However, make certain that you don't get the bases of any stems if you pull it up and bury it, as those may grow and invade your veg plot. Better to cut it off a few inches above soil level to be sure. It also seeds around like mad and is usually considered a weed, but pollinating insects love it.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
A strange one. This was a plant I brought with me from my old house even though dead now but the stems were so interesting and had lovely flowers. No one even when alive could identify it. I love to get another one if anyone has any ideas on what it is?
