We have a plot of land at the back of our house with some trees on it the ground it taken over with briars how do we get rid of them

    Hello Grainne and welcome to the forum. I'm afraid there is not an easy option for briars. Its a case of slow and steady digging up and removal.

    You need strong tools like a pick-axe or mattock. Do a bit at a time, it's hard but satisfying.
