Hello all, newbie here! I’ve inherited a garden with all-sorts in it and just trying to figure out what I should keep and what I should be getting rid of... this looks like tree leaves to me but it’s growing shrubby on the ground. Any ideas? Thanks!

Not certain, but could be a Japanese anemone.

It looks like some sort of currant to me. Did it have any flowers?

Hard to tell from the photos.
Has it got hairy leaves or bristles on the stems?
    Any flower buds coming through?
  • No sign of any flowers. Leaves aren’t hairy but a few bristles on the stem. It smells quite nice and herbal...

Not a currant, then. They smell of cat pee!

    Wild gooseberry?
    East Anglia
  • Thanks for the helpful suggestions everyone. I’ll leave it be for now and report back if it does anything interesting!
