Cuttings from a Hebe

I have just had to cut back my Hebe because it had a very bent stem and was growing horizontally across the lawn. It has good shoots  showing lower down so i am hoping it will grow back vertically. My question is, can i take cuttings from the branch i lobbed off and if so how do i do it? There are lots of healthy looking stems on the bit i took off. I do not know what variety it is but when in flower it is has dark purple flowers and grows up to approx 1 metre i seem to recall. many thanks

I have found hebe works well from cuttings. You need to avoid letting them dry out after cutting them. Make pieces about 15cm long with most of the lower leaves removed. Put them in a pot with compost and put the pot in a clear plastic bag to keep the humidity high. Putting cling film from the kitchen over the top works as well but make sure the top of the cutting is not in contact with the condensation from the clingfilm. Usually better drainage in the compost is good so some grit in the mix might be added but I found for hebe it was not essential. Keep the compost moist and somewhere sheltered with some light but not direct sun and I found they rooted after a few weeks.
