Low formal hedge?

Hi I am in need of some help, I have an L shaped border at front of house that borders a footpath and driveway, width of border is 2 feet with 2 feet of lawn. I am going to plant a hedge, problem is I cant decide on what, its 15 meters in length. Originally i was going with box, seemed cheap and readily available. I've now read about the horrors of the moth and blight, I am lost and dont know what to do  any help? Preferably evergreen, formal and going to maintain a height of 3 feet?

Yew would give a formal look and can be used as a low hedge.
Euonymus Green Rocket or Jean Hughes are often suggested as alternatives to box. Lonicera nitida can be kept clipped but needs doing several times a year to keep it tight and tidy.

Lonicera Nitida and L.n Baggeson's Gold  make  nice dense  lowish hedges

  • Thanks, this will be my first attempt at a low hedge, Jean hughes is nice if a little expensive, I do like the look of the nitida too and the L.n Baggeson's gold looks great.

Actually Jean hughes is around the same price as the rest, I may be leaning towards it.

Euonymus Green Spire is a dwarf variety, only grows to about 2 feet, and looks very similar to Box in leaf size/colour.  We hardly need to clip it at all.  Baggesons Gold will probably be cheaper, and you can prune it into very precise shapes, but it needs more pruning.

Baggesons Gold is gorgeous ... it always looks as if the sun is shining on it. 🌞
