Is this a weed?

BerkleyBerkley Posts: 431

This seems to have come from nowhere .... I'm sure it wasn't there last year ...... it is quite near a bird feeding station, so I could blame them. In case the photo isn't clear - the catkins are cream coloured. Any ideas appreciated.

    Pendulous sedge maybe?

I think it's Carex Pendula.  Often pops up on this forum.  Some love it, to most gardeners it is a horribly invasive weed.  I wouldn't have it in my garden.

I must start looking up the Latin names!  I only know common names from my Dad and Grandad  :/
