What's this?

I've been asked what this is.  I thought perhaps a member of the pea family but it has small spikes on it.  Apprently it has sprung up quite quickly and the lady doesn't remember planting anything where it is.

Looks like robinia pseudoacacia which can be thorny.   It can come from suckers so does a neighbour have one?   It won't have sprung up overnight.
