Is there any reason NOT to use rotted pampas grass as a mulch / compost?

    Yes, @JennyJ neither type is perfect although I have serious 'boy toy' envy of those commercial chippers which they use when removing trees etc!  You could probably put an old wooden fence through one of those without it blinking!
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    :D@BobTheGardener ! My little shredder is good enough for what I need it for. Anything too thick (and there isn't much) gets sawn into short-ish lengths and stuffed in the corner behind the garage for bugs etc to get to work on.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
