Bulk-ish-buy compost?

About a month ago I got a 80L bag of all purpose compost from my local supermarket for what I think was about £4.

I would like to get 5-6 (about 400L) more for about £20, I think they were maybe 3 for £10. My neighbor would also like a load too.

Can anyone please recommend a place were we could get say 2x 1000L or 1x 2000L at a reasonable price to save myself and my neighbor some moneys?

Many thanks.

Your extremely unlikely to get it sorry. Cheapest you will get is around the £100 mark for 1000 litres but that will be a builders bulk bag. If your after bagged compost expect to pay upwards of £20 for a 100 litres or more.
It's just the sheer cost of transportation due to the weight. That's adds 50% on top of the usual price

Have you tried any local nurseries that may deliver?

Good grief. I just did a search of the forum (which in hindsight I should have done first) and you seem to be right. My first online search found 1000L in one big bag for £90, which relativity is really expensive as for that price I could get 2160L from my supermarket. That's nuts.

No my first step is always to ask in the forum. My local nursery is extremely expensive for most things, but I could get in touch and see what they offer.

A garden centre which has just started doing deliveries near me does 4 x 50L bags for £10. So £50 for 1000L + £10 delivery.

I bought 1500lts from B&Q for £105 including delivery, it was the best buy I could find anywhere

As an aside, my neighbour told me today he tried to order fancy paving slabs, cost £442, carriage quoted £350.

    Naturally he is slab less.
