Fern have I killed it?

Hi there after some advice please I bought a fern a month or so ago it was quite brown and crispy it didn’t seem to get any better with watering so I chopped off the crispy fronds..... I have just planted it and hoped it will grow is this just wishful thinking?

I have a lot of ferns in my garden, many of them are still brown and crispy and haven't started growing yet, probably because it has been so dry.
Some of them though are evergreen, or partly so, and retain some green fronds in winter.
Yours could well be fine, but it does rather depend on which sort it is, so you will have to wait and see... They are happiest somewhere shady and damp. Good luck :)

It might be ok. Many aren't even started in growth yet.
As @Buttercupdays says - it largely depends on what type it is.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Ok thank you I think it must be evergreen as it had big fronds on it a month ago?

I don't think any of them are truly evergreen. Are there some haity bits at the base, the size of walnuts? They will become the new fronds in a few weeks
    In London. Keen but lazy.
