Help needed

Hi, I'm new to gardening and have a few queries that I hope someone can help with?

I have removed all weeds from my garden and added grass seeds and soil to the areas. It's been a week now and a few blades of grass are coming through. Is this standard as seems a little slow? I'm watering the areas twice a day.

I have also added evergreen complete 4 in 1 which has blackened the moss and after 1 week, it's quite noticeable. I've removed as much dead moss as I can and watering twice a day in this hot period.

Shall I now add grass seeds to the dead moss areas and if so, do I need to aerate these areas? I'm not sure if the grass will grow back in the dead moss areas by itself?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Shane

I think I'm right in saying that the instructions on the pack recommend leaving a certain amount of time after applying Evergreen 4 in 1 lawn treatment before re-seeding.  This is because it contains a pre-emergent treatment which prevents weed seeds from germinating ... this will also affect grass seeds.  Have a close look on the pack.

Thanks for your help. I have now finished raking all the dead moss out. This has taken me all day 😬

It states 8 weeks on the evergreen complete before I can overseed the lawn so that means I need to wait until the end of May. Is there anything I should be doing in the meantime? Can I aerate my lawn and if so, what would be the best equipment for this bearing in mind the size of the lawn?

I read it's also recommended to reseed your lawn in September as it's too hot before this and I'll miss the spring overseeing period due to the evergreen complete I've already applied. Has anyone ever overseeded their lawn in June and if so, has it turned out ok?

    Thanks

If you get regular rainfall, you can sow grass in summer.
I sowed my new lawn in the back garden in June, a few years ago, but it does depend on where you are in the country.  :)

I'm in the Midlands but I'm thinking if it's hot, then maybe if I sprinkle my lawn every day then might be ok?

    Never 'sprinkle a lawn.
If you're going to water, you need to do it thoroughly for a good hour or so every day. Depending on weather conditions at the time of course.
If you wait a month, you may find there's been enough rain, and rain in the forecast, which will allow seed sowing. I doubt very much that there won't be any rain from now until the autumn, in any part of the country.
I never water grass, I'm afraid. I think it's wrong, and a waste of resources, when I live here  :)
