Compost in black bin bags

As the green bins aren't being collected I wondered whether I should look to create compost by adding to black bin liners as I don't fancy buying a compost bin and don't have the space for a compost patch. I have looked online and there are a few suggestions. Is it worth the effort and does it really work? thank you
