Help needed with container fruits

Hi as we are in lockdown I have a very bored 15 year old!   So we have decided we would like to try our hand at planting maybe strawberries, blackberries & raspberries but will need to be in containers as my garden was half way through having a garage etc built before the corona started. My question is would multipurpose compost with John Innes 3 be fine for them all?  And what’s best to use as a feed for them?  Obviously I am going to plant them in separate containers.

  • Hello,

John Innes 3 will be absolutely fine. Just ensure they are watered regularly, especially being in pots. Feeding wise, you could use a general purpose fertiliser like growmore or something more natural like fish, blood and bone.

    Happy Growing,

    Phil.

they won't need any feeding for the first year and only sparingly after that when it is producing new growth
