Replenishing soil under stones

Hi,
We laid some beds with slate stones last year and the soil underneath has settled so much we need to add some more. Is there a helpful technique to do that given all the stones and the fabric layer I need to pull up?

Do you mean you need to add more stones, or more soil?
More soil (I think). We have plants amongst the stones but everything has sunk a bit low so I think it all needs to be raised up a bit. I'm thinking more soil or the plants will drown in stone?
