Lawn top dressing

Just scarified my lawn yesterday.
I'm now looking to top dress to remove some of the bumps and hollows from my lawn.
I've done a bit of reading and concluded that for my lawn (on clay soil) the best mix is around 30% soil and 60% sand. Is this about right?

My main question is what type of sand are you supposed to use in the mix?

Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

I’m going to have a go at this but I’ll be using kiln dried sand because that’s what I’ve got.

Yes - make sure you don't use building sand - the stuff that makes mortar. It'll compound the problem if you have clay.

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
