Hi @amberspy there is some information here
    https://www.gardenersworld.com/plants/herb-container-projects/

You don't say how deep your pots are, mint has shallow roots but will not do well in full sun, the coriander will get quite big so needs a bit of depth but will like some sun. Start small and then add to your collection, sow a few seeds now then more in a few weeks time - if they don't all survive then you will still have more seeds to try again.

It would be better to start them off in smaller pots, anything will do yoghurt pots or similar with a few holes punched in the bottom. Then move them to the bigger pots when they have a bit of root and several true leaves.

Good luck, don't give up  :)

Sounds like the pots are fine, they will need regular watering when the plants get bigger and the weather gets warmer. If you have some garden soil I would mix it with your compost, it will make it go further (who knows when you could get some more at the moment) and give the roots a bit more stability. Bought compost can be very loose.

The seeds will grow in a bit of garden soil with a light covering of compost. When they are big enough for their final pots the mint and chives will be happy with a half and half mix (both need some shade) the basil and coriander will appreciate a bit more of the compost.

    Hope this helps.
