Fertilisers

Hi everyone

So some of the plants I have, in this case Astilbe and Hypericum Tricolor apparently require a slow release fertiliser in spring. The only fertiliser that I have available is blended manure and growmore. Will these be good enough? I know manure is slow release but I’m not overly sure if it would contain enough nutrients.

Many thanks

If your soil is in good condition, those two plants need virtually nothing.
I'm not sure what 'blended' manure is, but a sprinkle of that should do fine. Make sure the astilbe has enough moisture too :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Hi Fairy Girl.

Firstly, thank you for such a quick response!

So my soil is chalky though the chalk chunks are not huge. I’ve added a bit of manure before though the ground does still crack when dry! Blended manure is from Levingtons I think it’s just manure and compost?

I thought Astilbe were very hungry plants as I’ve always read they need a humus rich soil. The watering won’t be an issue however

    Many thanks
