Looks like a goat willow, Salix caprea, and likely from a wind-borne seed. They are usually considered a weed species when they appear in a garden.

I agree with Bob about your tree, I get them here by the dozens and once they get to a foot tall they’ve almost impossible to remove, I’m sure they try and reach Australia before I can get them out.
