Hi all,

this rose (David Austin, Graham Thomas) has been neglected for 2-3 yrs. it’s very leggy and has shoots at almost 90 degrees, these are all over 1m long with not much happening for the first 50-60cm. 

Can anyone recommend some care and attention for it before I find it a new home in the garden.

    Looks like it's in need of a good pruning back. Bit late for it now but if it were me I would prune it and feed it, give it a good soaking then mulch with well rotted manure or if you don't have that then some garden compost. It would be better planted in the garden tbh. 

    Just read that it's a climber so it really needs to be in the garden with something to climb over.

    The alternative (to pruning) would be to train it like a climber or peg it (tie the shoots down or back to the plant). If you can bend the shoots to be closer to horizontal (45° or more) and tie them to something, you will get new growth with flowers, including from those bare sections.
