Jasmine - so close yet...

I planted a former houseplant jasmine about 6 years ago. After a slow start it's now 7' high and about the same wide. It's now covered in well formed flower buds but I know from previous years, they won't open - why not!?? (NB. Feeling very lucky that I have time to think about such minor things).

If it's a former house-plant, I'm guessing it's probably Jasminum Polyanthum. Not always reliable in this country because it tends to flower around spring time when grown outside, and normally they can be held back by frost. However, this year, it seems like spring weather is almost like summer, so your plant will probably flower finally.

Thanks Borderline. I attach a pic of some of its hundreds of buds. Like I say, it's been to this point before - but hopefully you're right and this is its year! I'll let you know if it does succeed!

Rosie Bee, I can't see any photos attached. But no worries, I'm sure it's about to flower!

Just to let you know Borderline, my jasmine did indeed flower brilliantly! Thousands of flowers which lasted weeks - yippee!

Glad to hear that! I'm sure it will continue to give you plenty more flowers in the years ahead.
