What’s wrong with my hydrangea?

Help!!

My lovely hydrangea, which unfortunately I had to cut back a lot due to damage caused whilst replacing the fence, seems to have something wrong with it.

It’s a well established plant and had been there since long before we bought the house two years ago. The new growth came through beautifully but over the last week a lot of the leaves seem burnt?

Does anyone have any idea as to what’s wrong and how I can help it recover?

Thanks in advance

It could have had too much sun and/or wind on the new foliage, particularly if the soil is also dry. I don't know about you but we haven't had any proper rain for about 3 or 4 weeks, so if it's the same where you are, give it a good drink and see how the new leaves grow in.

Thats a good point I’ll give that a go. I tend to forget about watering it and it has also been pretty windy over the last few weeks.
