I was wondering why my Hydrangea looks in such a sorry state this year. I have attached a picture of it. It appears all the leaves are dry and still curled. The Annabelle next to it appears unaffected?
As Rickster says the leaves have almost certainly been nipped by frost. If you can leave last year's dead flower heads on the plant they do give quite good frost protection to the buds overwinter. I only cut them off on mine last week.

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
I wouldn't even be worried by that. It happens all the time. Just remove the dead stuff once you have new growth replacing it. Or - let it drop off by itself
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
