New to gardening!

Good afternoon
I have just about finished clearing out a big border it was full of weeds and Ivy. I am looking at a good way to fill the border without incurring a huge cost by purchasing loose or bare root plants I have been looking at JParkers website and if I order today it looks like delivery will be weighing 28 days will this be too late to plant the bare root plants? I am looking at sedums, hostas, ferns, lavender Alba, white Nancy and heuchera white cloud. Any advice greatly appreciated!! Thanks

For the first year, I would scatter some annual flower seeds. Most of the supermarkets have some in at the moment.  If you get bare root perennials in another month, they are likely to struggle. If you sow cheap annual seeds, you can see what perennial weeds are likely to recur before you put expensive plants in. Once planted , it is a nightmare getting weeds like dock, bindweed, ivy etc out of your perennial plants.
  • Ok thanks very much for your advice I didn’t think of doing that.

try freecyle, but with journey restrictions, unless they drive past you to go to the supermarket, or you drive past them, you might be in breach of the new rules.
Maybe they could be left on the pavement outside?
    Devon.
