Border design

Hi All
I am new to gardening but excited to get started. I have a small front garden that currently just has some grass. I want to add an L shaped border along the wall and fence. I will add a picture to show this. I am just not sure which plants I should add and would really appreciated some advice. I would love it to look good all year around but also love colour in the summer. I really love purples and possibly some pinks. Thanks so much

Plants that I can think at the top of my head that can do well generally and add colour as well as fragrance and also evergreen, Choisya x Dewitteana 'Aztec Pearl' and Abelia Grandiflora 'Edward Goucher' are both good garden-worthy shrubs. Easily maintained with pruning. Once they start to mature, both flower for decent periods in the summer months.
To extend interest into winter and spring, Ornamental Quince, Chaenomeles Speciosa or Japonica shrubs can be wall trained or grown as a shrub. Provides early colour and unlikely to take up too much space. For something with purple/blue tones, take a look at the Chinese Plumbago, Ceratostigma Willmottianum. This low growing semi evergreen shrub not only flowers for a long time from late summer into autumn, but the leaves also turn a lovely red tinge in the autumn time. Makes good ground cover too.
