Cup and saucer plant - any growing hints?

I have never grown this before but have 3 strong young plants (sown before Monty's) has anyone grown these? Will they grow through a climbing rose. I seem to remember Adam Frost growing lots of climbing plants on a GW programme and this was one of them but can't locate the programme.
