More plant ID help

Hi folks. On my daily permitted stroll around the neighbourhood today I bumped into two shrubs I have never noticed before. Can people help me with the ID? Number 1 has the most amazing scent - almost like nothing I have ever smelled in a plant before. Number 2 is a 4+ metre tree with attractive flowers and large leathery leaves.

All the best and hope you're all well in these tough times. Having a garden is extra special at the moment.

Is the first one choisya ternata white dazzler and the second on common laurel?
