I cut the wire and just pull it out of the gripple in the direction it will move. If you are reusing you can leave the gripple on the wire. I only use a gripple on one end and tie the other end to the vine eye. It doesn't tie tight but seems to hold if you do a coupke of knots.
We haven't been able to release any of the Gripples, ours are green and a different shape not black ones as in the photo. Tried all kinds of implements in all the holes but nothing worked so have given up.
