It all comes down to what 'medium' means too I was also assuming @amberspy meant perennials rather than shrubs, as she said plants, and it's also dependent on climate, conditions, and what is growing nearby, as that affects ultimate sizes Without photos, we can only guess sizes

thanks A lot guys I’m going google them later today and see what suits garden best I’ve four gaps and 1 and 1/2 metres each gap I’ve no idea what type soil it is but I do need get it tested to find out saying that not had anything not taken yet it’s very sunny garden so that part gets ☀️ sun all day I appreciate your help many thanks
@amberspy- you only really need to gauge whether your soil is heavy or light and free draining, for most of the plants mentioned. The acidity or otherwise, is only relevant if you want something that needs alkaline soil and yours is acid , or vice versa.
