Transplanting snowdrops

This is the first time I have split and transplanted these snowdrops. Have found a good many have these bulb like growths on the stems is this normal

    They weren't happy at their original planting depth (or soil has beenadded on top and are now self-adjusting the bulb depth by developing a new one along the stem.  Clever isn't it!  That's how snowdrop seeds which germinate on the soil surface end-up as bulbs about 4 inches down (their ideal planting depth.) :)
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Right that explains alot. They have been in a raised bed for about three years,  as things are planted near them have just added soil/compost , so yes the soil depth has increased. They were becoming over crowded so moved some to my new bed and left a third there. I started with 100, but each patch must have that many now.😁
