What tree/plant is this?

  It looks like corkscrew Hazel but that has catkins in the spring and I can't see any, so I'm probably wrong

  Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

  Maybe Robinia pseudoacacia Lace Lady...white flowers.
  Doesn't look right for Corylus  avellana contorta..twisted Hazel.

  Sorry ... you spoke of flowers ... but after I posted you said you've not seen any so that won't help us.  
  
  Most plants , including trees, have flowers, but they may be tiny, or not what folk recognise as flowers.
  
  You don't have any pictures of it in leaf?
  
  Think we may have to wait until it leafs up before we can ID it.

  I will have thought that Silver surfer has it right. Are the flowers pea-like that sort of drapes downwards, and white colour, flowering when the leaves are present? Or did you mean the flowers are green?
