Dahlia Tuber up or down

Hi folks, my first year planting Dahlias. I bought the tuber pack from dobbies but this one wasnt attached to the rest of them. It maybe fell off html thought I'd plant it anyway.
It has started to root or grow. Can anyone tell me if these pinkish parts are roots to go down in the soil or the plant growing so to face upwards?

That is rare! Usually those broken bits of a tuber won't have any 'eyes' for shoots to form.

The angle you have there in the photo would work I think.
