    Love the stuff:
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Gorgeous gardens, thank you!
  • This was one of the plants I brought from my mother's garden after she died.

It's an annual reminder of her (not that I need one of course!)

I was clearing away old plants last year when a passer-by said "I hate those things, I see
you do too". He had the grace to look embarrassed when I explained the connection.

They flower around my parents' driveway and now they flower in my driveway and in my street wherever I park my car after visiting them. We live 30 miles apart but the seeds manage to hitch a lift somehow. I love them personally, the more the merrier.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Goldfinches love the seeds so don't be too hasty  to remove them even when theyou are going over.

I find they don’t transplant well so wait until they set seed then pull up plant and sprinkle seeds where you want them next year.

Ah, I love goldfinches, had a little family in the rowans the year before last but none last year sadly, hoping they come back soon.

Beginner question, how would I go about getting at the seeds?

If when you pull them up you shake the plants over the place you want them next year that's all you need to do. Thin the seedlings if they grow too thickly and transplant  to fill any spaces. A lovely little plant IMHO and so easy to grow that many people class it as a weed but I like easy.
