Magnolia 😷

Just planted this magnolia in fall, 6 months ago. Can you tell me what it needs?

    Is this an evergreen magnolia such as M. grandiflora? If so, they drop leaves all the time, new ones will come at the tips and the back part of the branch becomes bare. Give it a feed with a suitable feed for acid lovers (ericaceous feed or may be labelled for rhododendrons and azaleas. )
