Looking for some inspiration

Hello! We, like many I'm sure, are hoping to sort our garden out over the next few weeks to create a space that we can really enjoy and be proud of. We've lived in this house for almost three years now and have done nothing other than to maintain the space. It's fine, but it's boring. We are not skilled gardeners but I am very up for learning! We have basic DIY skills, but again are willing to give some new tasks a bash whilst there's not much else to do. We just don't know where to start - any ideas would be VERY welcome.

The wish-list for this North-East facing garden is:
- Somewhere to sit and enjoy the outside
- Some low-maintenance planting (but that gives enough to keep me interested and working on it throughout the year) Preference for flowers/foliage over fruit and veg.
- Ideally keep some lawn
- We have no pets or children to worry about

I've attached a photo and some rough measurements we took to try and inspire ourselves! No luck so far!!

Thanks in advance. Hope you're all staying safe in these strange times.

@joanna.e.clements Welcome to the forum. I am sorry you didn't get a response to your first post which does surprise me. You have given such precise information along with sketch and photo. It's a nice little space you have and I'm sure you can do wonders with it. Usually a post like yours is followed by plenty of suggestions as there are members on the forum who are full of ideas. Here's hoping this time the ideas will be forthcoming. Do hope so.  :)

Hi Joanna welcome to the forum patio where you get the most sun. Shaded area next to fence on the right hostas, ferns, primulas, heuchera, astilbe. Plant a few climbers on the fences build a long raised bed where the one you have but make it deeper.
