With the disruption on the continent, what should we be growing this year?...

...to replace the crops we won't be able to import so easily?

Easy stuff like salads which are quick and can be relatively expensive and don't need special kit.  If you can provide a well prepared bed - loads of compost and/or manure to improve fertility and moisture retention - then you can grow runner beans, green beans, squashes, pumpkins and courgettes.

If you have a greenhouse or polytunnel, tomatoes, cucumbers, chilies, aubergines.

Herbs are always good for lifting flavour and those wee packs of fresh herb can be expensive - 132€ a kilo here if you check the price for a wee pack of coriander so have a go at parsley, basil, tarragon, coriander, thyme.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
