Leaves falling off

I do not know what this plant is but the leaves are falling off. Is that correct this time of year? I also noticed spots on the leaves but can’t see any insects

    It's a Photinia. They often drop foliage.
    They can be quite iffy depending on location and climate. Some people like them because of the new red foliage they produce in spring/summer.

    Not my cup of tea- they can look awful, and usually do here. There are plenty of better shrubs in my opinion.

    Thank you for identification and advice. Now I have a name I looked up and as you said an easily stressed plant after a wet winter. Suggestion is prune May June and get new growth in summer. My estimate is this is 15 foot high so will probably try and take some height off as well. Thank you again

    If I'm honest @Negan, they can get stressed if you look at them the wrong way  :D
    They need quite specific conditions and if they don't get them they can fail. They're often recommended for hedging, and I would say they're not the best choice.

    Thank you, may try trimming this year and see how it goes. Maybe replace then. I moved house at end of last year and have no knowledge of gardening and quite a large garden now. I can image I will be on the forum quite a bit over the coming months for assistance.

    Your garden looks lovely @Negan :). Good luck with the Photinia, and don't forget if there's any plant that you don't like, for any reason, you can get rid of it.

    As @JennyJ says - you don't have to keep anything you don't like, and you'll get ideas and suggestions on the forum if you want to make changes.

    It looks like a lovely garden @Negan, and lots of surprises might start to come up as the weather cheers up. Maybe you could show us some more pictures later in the year!

    Thank you for your comments. Will certainly post more pictures later in the year, can already see some plants starting to come up and will be interesting to see what they are.
