  I saw that one but cannot work out how it gets rid of deep rooted weeds.

  You just slide it in vertically beside the dandelion root, twist it round and lift back out again.  The root is free from the surrounding soil and come out easily.

  Hi @madpenguin Here's my own tool for extracting dandelions etc. from the lawn. I seem to remember it's from Spears & Jacksons, but cannot find it on their site. It's 40cm in length; can't remember the price but I think it was OK, neither cheap not terribly expensive. I find it fills its role to perfection and thoroughly recommend it. It is similar but different from the one posted by our friend @Dovefromabove and, IMHO, superior. I used it as described by @KT53 .

  The key is to keep the double pointed end sharpened. Ok it doen't look that sharp on my pic, but that's because the dandelion season has not started yet and I have not had it sharpened by the man who does it (on the market place).
