    My guess would be some type of pinus ?

    I agree ... my first thought is that it looks like a young Scots Pine ... but if that’s it, it’ll be huge before long. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    I don't think this is one, but have a look at Pinus mugo for a slow growing dwarf pine.
    I have one on my rockery and  previous one took over 30 years to outgrow its space.

    It's possible. But there were actually 3 right next to each other. About a meter apart. be I'd surprised if they'd done that.
