Tree fern problems

Chrisp1Chrisp1 Posts: 39
I have two small tree ferns. Both kept in a consecratory, both fed and watered the same. But one the fronds grow out of the crown. The other the fronds grow from the outer base nothing from the crown.
Any advice please.

My guess would be that the crown has died and the fern is self-propagating by producing offshoots from the roots.  You can grow new plants from those:

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    hi Hello,
I have an 8ff tree fern which I planted 3 years ago. The second summer and now this Season, the plant has shot up a load of basal shoots but with a reasonably healthy top growth. Although the fronds only reached 2-3 ft last year and are looking to do the same this year. Is this detracting from the main growth do you think? Thanks
