Pond pump questions

I use a cheap bilge pump to help get rid of excess gunge from the bottom of my fibreglass pond.
Works OK but a bit of a faff as the tube kinks and is not long enough. The pond is also raised so difficult to get the pump nozzle on the floor of the pond easily.
I can replace the current tubing with more flexible hose but would some hose connected ove the pump nozzle affect the working of it.
The tubing for each bit would be different diameters and was wondering how I measure for sizing.I would use jubilee clips to secure.

  • Have you considered installing a 'more serious' pond pump? How much gals is ur pond?

Take your pump to somewhere like World of Water.  They have hose of all sorts of diameters and can almost certainly supply what you need.  Connecting hose on the intake end shouldn't have much effect on it working.

My original question was back in March!!!!
I have since added tubing (via eBay) to put on both ends of the bilge pump but not yet used properly but should be OK.

Sorry madpenguin, I didn't notice that somebody had been into the morgue to resurrect a dead topic. :-)
