I drink gallons of the stuff and I converted to loose leaf tea last year due to concerns over plastic in tea bags ending up in my compost bins.
I've been using one of these -

It works really well and when it gets clogged with tannin, leave it in a cup with 25/75 bleach/water and it's like new again in minutes.
I find the flavour of loose leaf much better too Assam is my favourite with Kenya a close second for a lovey good strong cuppa and no plastic.

I sometimes use dried tea bags to cover the holes in the bottom of pots to stop soil escaping.

Nutritious or not, and I'm not qualified to comment, their darkening effect on your soil will raise the temperature slightly and aid germination/growth.
