Lavender plant problem

hi all

me again!

I am new to gardening so please excuse my many questions. I have a lavender plant in my balcony which seems to be becoming dry in the lower branches, with leaves falling off. Is it because it’s too cold? Is there anything I can do?

I’ve been watering it but not too much as I know lavender doesn’t like a lot of water...

If possible, can you post a photograph of your plant? Just want to know what type of lavender you have.

Lavenders can become woody around the base area, especially if grown with lack of light/sun or if the plant have been growing for over 3 years, they tend to look tired and may need replacing.

Pictures below. It’s a new plant which I have recently bought from a nursery in west London. It has become woody at the bottom and feels dry when I touch it. The top leaves are okay..
Wondering if I can save it...

Thanks for the photos. They look nice and healthy to me.

Some dry looking bits along the bottom always occur, and as the plant grows and ages, you will find the dry and woody sections creeping further up the branches. Lavenders are sub-shrubs and this is completely normal. They may need replacing every 3-4 years. If not, you will have woody branches with no leaves along the lower sections.

Ah, thanks very much! This is reassuring. I was worried I was overwatering it or something. Thanks again.

Remember, lavender doesn’t like too much water and can thrive in week soil.

Just keep it south facing for best results

Hello! I just wanted to let you know that my lavender had been growing some new green leaves, but today I had a look, and it looks like this 🤕 ⬆️⬆️

The new leaves are soft and wilting. Is it dying? What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you! Xx

How much have you been watering it?

They don't like too much water but you still need to water them, especially in pots.

I have been watering but I’m conscious they don’t need too much, so only every other day or so. Is that too much/too little?

I would instinctively say every other day was too much but how does the compost feel if you poke your finger into it?
