New pond

Hi I built a pond over winter and it is about half full of rainwater . Could I now top up with tap water or should I use a dechlorinator? Thanks very much for all your advice

    Hi Jan
You can use tap water, the main downside is that it will contain nutrients that will feed algae and turn the water a bit green, but that will pass in a few weeks.
If you can, top it up really slowly, so that the change doesn't upset the life that's already in there.
You can add something like Saechem Prime (to remove chlorine etc) - which I used to use for my tropical fish tank - but it's quite expensive and not really vital

Good luck Jan - there will be plenty of suggestions if you need some help deciding on which plants, Puddle Plants are very good and have a wide choice.
